Be not forgetful to entertain strangers:

for thereby some have entertained

This is Cherry (or, if you're in a more formal mood and prefer to use his Japanese name, Sakuranbo). He's a first-release Volks Sakaki; when I sprang him from eBay, he had this faceup, which I think is by ButterflyCollector. It's not bad except for the caterpillar eyebrows, but even so, I think he deserves better, so he'll be off to Mingyi for a freshening-up next month.

Very few BJDs are left on my wishlist, now, mainly because the "old" ones are falling into my lap like acorns in October . . . just wait till you see! And because this is the way things go sometimes, my turn toward the earlier resin is making me rethink some of the more recent arrivals--beautiful dolls, all of them, but not quite coming to life for me in the way that I'd hoped they would. The ones who need to leave are all going to good people; the Circle of Dolly Life is revolving just the way it should. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.

Oh, so you got him! I know who his previous owner is, and one of the local Tampa-area faceup artists painted him. (Though you're right, he definitely needs new eyebrows. >_<) I'll look forward to seeing him repainted! Sakaki is such a sweet boy. ^_^

About some of your newer older resin, I've been waiting to see a certain white skinned boy that I know you bought right before I got a chance to figure out a way to bring him home. XD;

Humma humma humma . . . would said white-skinned boy hail from Hiroshima, by any chance?

*evil giggle*

If so, I think you'll agree that he's looking verrrrrrrrry verrrrrrry good now--if the sun comes out again this weekend, there will be pictures!

He would indeed be from that part of the world! XD

Oooh, then I hope the sun comes out! :D

Oh, wow!!! He's the most beautiful sakakai I've ever seen - I would have snatched him up if I had the funds. Too too too bad you're wiping that perfectly angelic face-up - it suits the mould completely! *stares*

Oh, the faceup does suit the mold, and I'm reasonably happy with it . . . except for the overpowering eyebrows. In person, they are even more overpowering than they are in photographs, and I'm picky about eyebrows--I think this gorgeous sculpt needs finer-textured, less woolly ones. But I'm pretty sure he'll come back looking just as angelic as he does now, if not more so! ;-)

Glorious! I can not wait to meet this guy in person! I agree about the eyebrows and I'm excited to see what Mingyi will do with him!

Congrats. Cherry is spectacular.

I really can't believe that I was able to snag him on eBay--I was SURE I would get sniped! *pinching self*

The Tsukasa was such a spectacular fail for me that I wondered whether I had lost the ability to appreciate any Volks boys except the Lucai . . . but you know, I think Cherry might be doing for me what I couldn't quite convince the Tsukasa to do. Joy.

Ahhh, I do love that Sakaki nose.

Mingyi will no doubt make him extremely gorgeous!

Who knew that the Tsukasa nose would turn out to be not ski-slopey enough for me?

Yup, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Mingyi does with him--her Ushiwakamaru is one of my all-time favorite Volks faceups, and I madly adore the Four Sisters she painted for me.

Sakaki has such an innocent, hopeful face--Cherry makes me smile every time I look at him. And the funny thing is that he looks like Yukinojo's younger brother! I need to get some pictures to prove this, because it's improbable on the face of it . . . but Kanbei and Cherry are sitting next to each other right now, and they are SO TOTALLY related.

Squee Sakaki! So much love for this sculpt (the nooooose! <3 )and I can't wait to see what his final faceup looks like. The default wig really does do a great job of showing off his gorgeous face, you really need a faceup where you love every element.

...and don't think you're out of the woods on the wishlist front. At least in my experience, acquiring grails just makes way for new ones to develop. >_>

(this is takira, btw. I know it's not obvious by the handle. -_-;; )

I was really lucky with that default wig--the seller didn't even list it in the eBay auction text, because she thought it was too damaged to mention. She just threw it in because I paid quickly and she didn't know what else to do with it. When it arrived, it *wasn't* damaged in any real way--just a bit split-endy on those long tails, big deal.

Eeeeeehhhhhh, well, I do still have my Totally Unattainable CH Unique Wishlist, and I'm hoping that will buffer me from adding too many others . . . though it's frustrating, knowing that there was only one of a doll made, and that it probably never left Korea. Grrrrrrrrrr.

One of the reasons I wanted Mingyi for the new faceup is that she paints in the same gentle, delicate style . . . with the more refined eyebrows that I like. We shall see! :-)

And I don't think I knew that you owned a Sakaki! He is just wonderful--such a sweet, open face. <3 <3 <3
